Was curious if anyone has anything good/bad to say about the Ryzen 3500X? I'm getting ready to build a new system and was thinking of using it.

It is good as long as you don't need AVX512. See my post "Surprising new feature in AMD Ryzen 3000".

Depending on the rest of your system, it might be plenty fast. Depending on the price difference, I would consider an upgrade to the Ryzen 5 3600 as it has double the threads.
That is if you can actually get your hands on it as availability of every Ryzen 3000 below the 3600 is bad to nonexistent, at least where I live (Europe).
